MEET THE PASTOR
​Elder Frederick Canty

Elder Frederick Canty, the son of the late Frank and Leavonne Canty, was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.  Growing up, Elder Canty was very athletic and he loved to play basketball.  He excelled on the basketball court, was often featured in the newspapers, and was very popular in his neighborhood for being an all-star basketball player.
 
Elder Canty has two older brothers and three adopted sisters.  He was united in marriage to the lovely Jamie Nicole “Nikki” Williams-Canty.  With this union a blended family was born; three sons, one daughter, and three grandchildren.  After high school, he attended college at Medgar Ever College in New York and has completed many classes in Minister’s Training Institute.  He is currently employed at Scotland Correctional Institute.

In 2006, Elder Canty began attending Piney Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church in Ellerbe, North Carolina and eventually joined the church in 2007.  He answered the call on his life to minister God’s word and preached his initial sermon on August 2, 2009.  He was the Associate Minister, President of the Men’s Ministry, vice president and treasurer of the Pastor’s Aid Committee. He also served as a trustee of the Annual Southwestern Conference.

In May of 2015, Elder Frederick Canty was elected as Pastor of the New Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church. He is truly a man of God. To God be the glory.
 
Elder Canty is a man of faith and believes in preaching straight from the Bible.  He is a man who loves to study the word and strives to follow it each and every day.  His ultimate favorite gospel song is “Sold Out” and he is truly sold out to the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.  Amen!
